Soviet Tenors

A small digress:

A request to Francois Nouvion - please, abandon your habit of stealing singers' names I add to my page and putting them on your site, information, photos, etc'.

Term clarification:

By “Soviet tenors” I mean those artists whose entire career or a significant part of it developed during the most ideologically radical years of the Soviet rule and the Soviet Union’s disconnection from the West, and not those who had already established a name for themselves in an earlier period, or those who have only started their way in Soviet Union’s very last days or are singing well into the present – both are more familiar to the Western public. Of course, the boundaries are not strict, there are the usual subjective factors, and, needless to say, - this modest list of some prominent soviet tenors is very far from being complete. Also, it is certainly not meant to be an exhaustive source, but to offer some very basic information.
